Cameron Chase is late for her first day of work at the Department of Extranormal Operations; Anything involving meta-humans comes under their jurisdiction, including a youngster in Ohio who has starting throwing fire; Chase is immediately sent to Ohio, along with the head of field personnel Sandy Barrett, to find the person who has started burning things; They find him and convince him to volunteer for training to control his powers, but things don't always go the way they want.
